          HYRUM—The region title is still up for grabs after the first day of the Region 5 track meet Wednesday. Teams are pushing to get their athletes qualified for the finals, which will take place Thursday, leading to state competition.         HYRUM— In a late-season tune-up for region, the Mountain Crest girl’s track and field team easily defeated Box Elder Thursday, 86-37. No matter the season, Karlee Kartchner finds a way to win.   A month after winning the girls basketball 4A State MVP award, Kartchner is turning heads in track and field.   In two meets this season, the 6-foot senior has already tied her career best in the high jump at 5-feet, 6-inches, and has won six of the eight events she has competed in.         SMITHFIELD— In the second annual Sky View Invitational, the Sky View track and field team protected its home field, winning the combined team trophy Saturday.         LOGAN— The Mountain Crest girl’s team won the Grizzly Invitational, and the other valley teams performed well as 30 schools converged on Logan High School Saturday.         ROY— The Mountain Crest Mustangs traveled to Roy Thursday afternoon for a dual meet against the Royals.  Battling the elements, the girls won easily while the boys lost.   MC head coach Rob Thomas said the Mustangs held back on a lot their athletes because of the Grizz Invitational Saturday.
