Lady Cats Enjoy Senior Night With 65-35 Drubbing of Box Elder

SMITHFIELD— Thursday night was Senior Night for the Lady Bobcats as they hosted the Box Elder Bees. Senior leadership, superb defense, and a fast start saw the pink-clad home team run away for a 65-35 win.   Sky View – without leading scorer Tara Goldman – started Thursday’s game determined to win no matter what.   “Before the game we came together and decided that since it was our final game on our home court, we wanted to go out with a win,” senior Whitney Alvey said.   Led...

Second Half Bobcats Run Away From Roy For 75-53 Win

ROY— The Lady Bobcats hit the road Thursday for a clash against Region 5 foe Roy. The Royals confidence was high, riding a two-game win streak, but it was Sky View who got its momentum going again with a 75-53 win.   The Lady Bobcats came into Thursday’s game reeling after getting blown out at home Tuesday against Bonneville. SV was also without leading scorer Tara Goldman who suffered a sprained ankle against the Lakers.   Early on, Sky View looked like it might have a hangover as the...

SV Loses Goldman And Then To The Lakers, 59-40

SMITHFIELD— Tuesday night saw the top two teams in Region 5 go head-to-head as the Sky View Lady Bobcats hosted the Bonneville Lakers. Bonneville was the last team to beat Sky View almost a month ago and they handily won this contest, 59-40.   The game started off well for the Bobcats as they completely controlled possession for the first minute of play. However, they were unable to convert either of their shot attempts before turning the ball over which lead to a Lakers layup at the other end.  ...

Fourth Quarter Surge Pushes Lady Bobcats Past Mustangs, 55-50

SMITHFIELD— Thursday night, the Sky View and Mountain Crest girl’s basketball teams met in their second tightly contested contest of the season. Both teams led late in the fourth quarter, but it was the Lady Bobcats who came away with the victory, 55-50.   The game started off with quick scoring for each team. It looked like the game was going to be an all-out offensive barrage. However, things slowed down.   Mountain Crest began missing its inside looks and Sky View struggled to maintain possession of the ball on...

Bobcats hold off furious comeback from Lady Grizz

LOGAN— Though it was their second battle of the season, the result ended up the same as the Sky View girl’s basketball team defeated Valley rival Logan Tuesday night, 73-65, despite a 22-point Grizzly comeback.   “Hat’s off to Logan for getting back at us,” Bobcat head coach Kimber Hall said.   After trailing by as many as 28, Logan cut its deficit to six with a 3-pointer from Megan Mills with three minutes left. Mills then drilled another triple with a minute and a half left to again...

Goldman Leads Bobcats Past Bees, 72-48

TREMONTON— Tara Goldman exploded for 30 points and Sky View outscored Box Elder 19-2 in the opening quarter en route to a 72-48 victory over the Bees Thursday night.   The Bobcats used a smothering defense to knock the Bees out of their offense early and fed Goldman inside as Box Elder had no answer for her. Sky View outscored Box Elder in every quarter, but in the second, third, and fourth quarters combined, the Bobcats only outscored the Bees by seven, compared to the 17 point advantage in...

Lady Bobcats Stop Skid, Stomp Roy, 81-48

SMITHFIELD— The Sky View Lady Bobcats came into Tuesday’s game against Roy loose and with high expectations, despite having dropped two straight. That confidence was evident as they rolled to a 81-48 victory over the Royals.   From the moment the referee tossed the ball, Sky View began an offensive display that the Royals were unable to contain. A quick pick-and-role on the first possession gave the Bobcats a 2-0 lead from which they would never look back.  Junior Maddie Day stole the ensuing inbound pass and Tara Goldman...

      Bobcats dominate Logan, 69-44, behind Falslev’s season-high

SMITHFIELD— Nearly a week after playing arguably its worst game of the season, the Sky View girl’s basketball team responded in a big way with a 69-44 thumping of Valley rival Logan in the region opener for both teams.   The Grizzlies won the tip, but they did not control the ball very long as senior Dannika Webb stole the ball for Sky View and found a streaking Whitney Alvey for a layup. Logan would again lose the ball on its ensuing possession and the Bobcats would add a...

      Weber dominates Lady Cats, 58-42

SMITHFIELD— Sky View girl’s basketball coach Kimber Hall stomps his foot when he’s upset, and Thursday night he was getting a workout.   The Bobcats fell to the Weber Warriors in their final game of the preseason, 58-42.   Hall said the Cats had a sluggish start to the game, and that was evident as Weber scored nearly 10 points before the Bobcats were able to get a single shot. This deficit had Sky View lagging, and they trailed the Warriors for the rest of the game.   Weber dominated from...
