      MC Stomps Roy, 8-1, in Regular Season Finale

        ROY— The Mountain Crest Mustangs travelled to Roy to take on the Royals Friday in the last game of the regular season. Despite the Royals battling for the final playoff spot in Region 5, the region champion Mustangs had no problem, winning 8-1.   “It was a good overall outing for us,” Mountain Crest head coach Steve Hansen said.   Ben Weese won the game on the mound for the Mustangs, pitching seven innings and only allowing a single run.         HYRUM— The Logan and Mountain Crest boy’s soccer teams met in a fierce competition Friday afternoon.         SMITHFIELD— Having no shot at making the state playoffs didn’t stop the Sky View softball team from turning in one of its best games of the season and defeating region power Bonneville, 5-2, on Senior Day.   The Lakers quickly scored with an RBI in the first inning after Alex Weaver stole second and third base, and was brought home by Andy Hancock’s ball to center field.           HYRUM—The region title is still up for grabs after the first day of the Region 5 track meet Wednesday. Teams are pushing to get their athletes qualified for the finals, which will take place Thursday, leading to state competition.       Logan Tennis Takes Region, SV Third, MC Fourth

        ROY— The three valley schools all travelled to Roy Wednesday to play in the Region 5 Tennis Tournament. Logan emerged victorious, winning with 45 points. Bonneville took second with 39 points, Sky View finished third with 28 points, and Mountain Crest finished fourth with 20 points.
